Search
Introduction
Search is a powerful way to quickly find anything that you have visibility to (personal and shared data) within OnePlace. This feature is accessed using the Search button in the toolbar at the top of every page in OnePlace.

Filtering Search
Search allows you to filter or constrain your search to either items of a specific type:
| Search Type | Attributes Searched |
|---|---|
| All | All attributes listed below for all data types |
| Archive | Attributes searched depend on the type of the items in the archive |
| Discussions | Discussion entries |
| Files | File title and description attributes (currently does not search file contents) |
| Inbasket | Inbasket item subject and body attributes |
| Lists | List title and description attributes (currently does not search list contents) |
| Notes | Note item subject and body attributes |
| Projects | Project title and description attributes |
| Tags | Searches all things that can be tagged |
| Tasks | Task title and description attributes |
| Trash | Attributes searched depend on the type of the items in the trash |
Type-specific searches will also find data that has been archived or trashed. To help you recognize this, data found in these locations will be shown with an "archived" or "trashed" decoration to the right of the title for the data.
You can also control whether or not to search the archive and the trash when searching for something. Check the "Search Archive" check box to include the archive in the search. Likewise, check the "Search Trash" check box to include the trash in the search.
Here is an example of searching all tasks for ones that include the word "Party" in either the task title or description.

Search by Identifier
Another powerful aspect of Search is the ability to search for things by identifier (click here to learn more about the use of data identifiers in OnePlace). The example below demonstrates how to search for the task whose identifier is #78. This feature is extremely handy if you and your team members use data identifiers to refer to data within the system.

Search supports keyboard shortcuts. Click here to learn more.
Search Results
If Search locates anything matching your search terms, you will see a screen similar to the one shown below. Note that the matching data is highlighted.

You can work with data on the Search Results in much the same way you would work with it in other areas of OnePlace. Simply hover over the title of a piece of data with the mouse cursor, and a toolbar will appear containing actions you can perform that are appropriate to that type of data. You can also click on the title of something in the Search Results to go to that item (for instance, drill into a task or project).
