Team Central
Introduction
OnePlace is the perfect place for your teams to collaborate online. There are a large number of features within OnePlace where you can work together on projects, share files/notes/lists and many other collaboration activities. There are many ways in which you can connect and collaborate with the people on your team within OnePlace.

Teammates
The Teammates panel is a dashboard for your team. From this panel you can quickly see what your team is up to, direct a pulse to them, flip them an inbasket note, or even email them. There is a filter at the top of the panel that allows you to filter the list. By default, OnePlace will display 'All Teammates', which is a collection of all people that you share a workplace with and all the people in your team account. You can also filter the list down to either those users in your account or a specific workplace.
This panel is automatically refreshed every five minutes.

Setting Your Status
You can let your team know what you're up to and if you're available by setting your status. As mentioned previously, you can set your status from the Update Status link in the header of your OnePlace screen.

Team Pulse
Team Pulse is a Twitter-like way to communicate regularly with your team members (a "pulse" is equivalent to a "tweet," but private for only your team members). There are many benefits to Team Pulse; one key benefit being that it automatically "pulses" on your behalf when you start or complete a task (that is, when you mark a task as "In Progress" or "Complete") -- so all your team members get automatically notified and project managers stay in the loop as to their project activity.
The best way to think of Team Pulse is to imagine that your entire team is sitting around a table while you are working. You can share things in Team Pulse just like you would in that setting.
Team Pulse has many uses. Below are just a few examples:
- Ask your entire team a quick question
- Share quick facts about something you learned that others may be interested in
- Post some details related to what you are working on
- Have fun sharing a joke (a tasteful one, of course)
If you have ever enjoyed an instant message exchange with a colleague or friend, then you will become addicted to Team Pulse right away.
Below is a screenshot of the area of Team Pulse where you post your pulse. There is nothing complex about it. Just type what you would like to say, and click the post button or press Shift+Enter. It is a common (and useful) practice to enter a @name at the beginning of a pulse if you are directing the post to someone specific. Just be aware that others will still be able to see this message. A shortcut to entering the @name is to click on the person's name either in an old pulse or in the teammates panel.
Pulses can be directed. By default, pulses will be sent to all your teammates. However, you can control this. There is a drop down control right above the pulse text box. It has the label of "Post To:". To direct a pulse to a different audience just select it from the list. OnePlace will remember this setting for you so you only need to change it when you want to direct a pulse to a different group/person than is currently selected. See the Security section of this help for more details on how directing pulses works.

If you would like add some emotion to your pulse, then we have just the tool. Right above the area where you type in your pulse is a smiley face with the text 'Insert Emoticon' next to it. If you click on this, you will see an Emoticon picker pop up (see below). Just click the emoticon that reflects the emotion you want to convey. If you're familiar with instant messaging, you'll recognize that OnePlace is just replacing the standard emoticon character sequences with an image. You can just type the emoticon character sequence in your post directly if that is more convenient for you.
Team Pulses are an excellent way to stay on top of what your team is up to. This is especially true since OnePlace will automatically pulse for you when you start and stop a task. Only the teammates that can see that task normally will see your pulse for a particular task.
The Team Pulse panel on your Home page shows you the most recent pulses that have been posted. This information is automatically updated, so if you prefer to hang out on your Home page, you will always see the latest pulses from your teammates. See below for an example.

The list of pulses can be filtered as well. Right above the list of pulses is a drop down list labelled "Show pulses posted by:". You can choose to focus the pulse list down to pulses posted by an individual, a workplace, your team account or all your teammates.
Team Pulse via Workplace Messages tab
Pulses from Team Pulse that are posted to a specific Workplace are now aggregated in each Workplace's Messages tab. All tasks that have been started or completed in that Workplace will be pulsed and viewed on the Messages tab, as well as all Pulse messages posted to the Workplace via Team Pulse or the OnePlace Dashboard. Users can also Pulse to and from the Workplace within that Workplace's Messages tab.

Security
Team Pulse is great for letting you communicate with everyone you collaborate with, however quite often you'll want to say things that are confidential, which are meant only for certain people to see. So, Team Pulse allows you to direct your pulses in various ways, so that you can talk to just the right people. OnePlace won't let other users see pulses that you didn't intend for them to see. Here is how directed pulsing works:
- Pulsing something with the "All teammates" choice selected will make that pulse visible to everyone in your account and everyone that you share a workplace with.
- Pulsing something with the team account choice selected (i.e. the name of your team account) will restrict the visibility of that pulse to just the folks that are listed in your team account.
- Pulsing something with a workplace selected will restrict the visibility of that pulse to just the people that are members of that workplace.
- Pulsing something with an individual user selected will restrict the visibility of that pulse to just the original poster and the person to whom the pulse was directed to. This is a private pulse that only that other person sees.
- Auto-pulses (pulses sent automatically by OnePlace when tasks are started and completed) are visible only to the people who are in the workplace that the task belongs to. In addition, if the task is marked as private, then only the internal members of that workplace can see the pulse (not the external members).
