Inbasket
Introduction
The first question you might have is, "What exactly is an inbasket"? Think about your OnePlace inbasket in much the same way you think about a real inbasket sitting on your desk. Things requiring your attention are placed in your inbasket by you, your team members, or OnePlace (i.e. system notifications). You process these things at your convenience by reading them, promoting them to other types of data (tasks projects, discussion messages, notes), archiving them, trashing them, etc.

- Received Notes - Contains the inbasket notes you've received in one of the ways mentioned below. Works much like the 'Inbox' folder in email programs.
- Sent Notes - Contains the inbasket notes you've sent to yourself or others. Works much like the 'Sent' folder in email programs.
Notes find their way into your inbasket in one of the following ways:
- From You - You can add notes directly to your inbasket. This is very useful for quickly capturing something that you don't yet know what to do with, but will process later. We call this "set it, forget it".
- From Others - Other users, including team members can send notes to your inbasket. You can then reply to the sender of the note, reply to all people the note was originally sent to, and forward the note to other users. This feature is very much like email.
- From OnePlace - OnePlace will automatically notify you when things happen by placing notes in your inbasket. For example, OnePlace will notify you when a task has been assigned to you by someone else. This feature is very important for helping you stay "in the know".
Your inbasket it private, only you can see what's in it. As mentioned above, others can add things to your inbasket, however they can't see anything in it.
Notes that you haven't read yet are shown in bold, and once you read a note, it will automatically display in the normal non-bolded font. You can use the inbasket view settings to change how the inbasket presents it's information to you.
The inbasket is designed to automatically refresh once a minute. This is a very useful feature when you are working with others; notes sent to you by other team members will automatically appear in your inbasket without any action by you. In addition, when you have unread inbasket notes, the Inbasket button in the global toolbar will display a small maroon-colored "badge" showing the number of unread notes. OnePlace will automatically display this badge for you, so that no matter where you are in OnePlace, you'll always know if there's anything new to read in your inbasket.

You can also completely empty your inbasket by clicking the Empty button.
Processing Inbasket Notes
One of the great things about the inbasket is that it is very easy to process your inbasket notes into something actionable (a task or project) or into information you share with others (shared note or discussion message). To do this just hover your mouse over the note and a set of Action Icons will appear. Click on the icon that looks like a gear with an arrow pointing to the right. A menu will pop up (see screenshot below) with different ways that you can process the note.
- Promote to task - Turn the inbasket note into a task. Doing so will automatically trash the inbasket note.
- Promote to project - Turn the inbasket note into a project. Doing so will automatically trash the inbasket note.
- Promote to note - Turn the inbasket note into a note you share with others. Doing so will automatically trash the inbasket note.
- Promote to discussion message - Turn the inbasket note into a message within a discussion. You have the option of whether or not you want to trash the inbasket note.
