Your Home Page

Introduction

Your Home Page in OnePlace is designed to give you a birds-eye view of what's going on with you and your team - projects and tasks you're working on, discussions you are participating in, files you're currently editing, and much more. Your Home Page is different from all other users' Home Pages, because it shows you blended information of exactly what you need to know about and be aware of inside your OnePlace.

You can return to your Home Page at any time by clicking the Home button in the toolbar at the top of every page, or, by clicking the OnePlace logo in the upper left of the page.

Customizing Your Home Page

As you can see in the screen shot above, your Home Page is made up several different panels of information. Since not everyone has the same work style and cares about the same types of information, OnePlace allows you to customize your Home Page to meet your needs. You can add and remove panels to display only the information you find useful. You can drag and drop panels to arrange them on the page the way you want. You can expand and collapse panels to get just the right level of detail. You can select how many items to display in each panel by using the panel Settings link. OnePlace will remember the customizations you've made so that when you navigate away from your Home Page, it will look exactly the same as you left it the next time you return.

Add and Remove Panels

To add new panels to your Home Page, click the Customize Home Page link in the upper right of the My Home Page header bar. The following dialog will appear, which allows you to choose the panels you want on your Home Page. You can also choose the layout of the panels on your Home page to be either one column of panels or two columns.

To remove/close a panel, just click the "x" icon in the upper right hand corner of the panel header. You can also remove a panel via the Customize Home Page dialog (shown above).

Drag and Drop Panels

Reordering panels on your Home Page is easy to do using drag and drop.

  1. Hover the mouse cursor over the header of a panel you would like to move. The mouse cursor will change to the "drag" cursor.
  2. Click on the panel header and hold down the mouse button.
  3. While holding down the mouse button, drag (move) the panel to where you want it.
  4. Drop the panel (let go of the mouse button).

Note that as you drag a panel over another panel, the panel below the one you are dragging will automatically slide down to open up a spot where you can drop the panel if you like. If you drag a panel off the top or bottom of the page, the page will automatically scroll up or down for you.

Expand and Collapse Panels

Each panel on the Home Page can be expanded or collapsed. A collapsed panel provides a summary of the information that the panel shows when expanded. To expand or collapse a panel, click the "+" or "-" icons in the right hand corner of the panel header. You can also expand a collapsed panel by clicking anywhere in the panel summary. Below is an example of a panel that is collapsed.

Home Page Panels

Teammates Panel

The Teammates panel displays people who belong to the same team account as you, as well as people outside your team account that you share workplaces with. The Teammates panel allows you to list all your teammates, just teammates from your team account, or just teammates you share a specific workplace with. If you click on a person in the Teammates panel, your Home Page changes to show you that teammate's page, which is different kinds of information about that person that you are authorized to see. To learn more about Teammates pages, click here.

You can display a minimum version of the Teammates panel by clicking the "-" icon in the upper right corner of the panel. The minimized version displays just user pictures and status icons. This is useful if you want to give more space on the screen to the other panels (and you know your teammates based on their pictures).

The number of unread messages for a discussion is shown with a small green and white number to the right of the discussion title. New Notifications Panel

The New Notifications panel displays the unread notifications that you have received, providing a quick way to stay up to speed on what is going on inside of OnePlace. To view the body of the notification, click the "view details" link for the notification. To mark a notification as read, click the "mark as read" link for the notification. This will cause the notification to disappear from the panel, however the notification will still be in your Inbasket if you need to read it again. Clicking "Mark All Read" will cause all notifications in the panel to disappear.

Scheduled Tasks Panel

The Scheduled Tasks panel displays tasks that you have scheduled for either today, or beginning with today and going out through the end of the work you have scheduled.

Scheduled_tasks_panel

Note that the tasks listed under Today are any tasks you have scheduled for today, as well as any tasks scheduled in the past that haven't been completed. This "rolling forward" of incomplete work is OnePlace's polite way of reminding you about work you had said you wanted to do.

If you don't want to see any upcoming scheduled work, simply choose the "Today" option in the "Filter" drop down. You'll then be shown just the work you have scheduled today, along with any incomplete work scheduled in the past (remember, we'll keep nagging you about getting that work done).

Team Activity Panel

The Team Activity panel displays all the activity that has been going on inside of OnePlace either by you or by one of your teammates. This allows you to keep track of what is changing.

Team Pulse Panel

The Team Pulse panel displays all the latest team pulse messages that have been posted to OnePlace. You can use this panel to communicate with another person, or to a team of people. OnePlace also pulses automatically when you or your teammates start working on a task, or when a task is completed. These auto-pulses are a good way to keep your finger on the pulse of the team.

You can add a new workplace by clicking the "Add" button, which will guide you through a step-by-step approach for setting up a new workplace.

There is also a preference you can set in your Personal Preferences (under Settings | Personal Account Settings) called Show quick links footer on Home Page Workplaces panel, which turns on a set of links for each workplace in the Workplaces panel. These links provide information about the data in each workplace, as well as a quick way to directly access that data.
